Challenge of OLIVARI and architect
2020.07.22Even a single door handle is one of architecture.
The door handle of OLIVARI is designed based on such a concept.
By doing so, a door handle that is memorable while being familiar with architecture without being overly asserted
has been created.
Designed by Gio Ponti, the Lama is one of the representative handles of the OLIVARI, which is still very popular
even after more than 50 years since its release in 1954.
He designed this handle for the Pirelli skyscraper in Milan.
Lama is blade in Italian. As its name suggests, it has a thin, sharp blade-like shape, but the gentle reflection
of light gives it a tender impression.
At first glance, it is sharp and inorganic, but it also incorporates ergonomic elements to maintain the
balance
between the flexibility of the human hand and the ease of gripping the handle.
These condense his vision that classical symbolism overcomes functionalism.
In this way, in his collaborative production with OLIVARI, he sent his thoughts and passions not only to
architecture but also to the door handles that is inside the architecture.
